Nigel Rhodes
Wanted to play guitar in a band for as long as I can remember.. Started lessons at the age of seven, but had absolutely NO patience whatsoever and gave up almost immediately. Probably my one regret!
Actually started playing quite late in life ('bout 19 - 20ish). My first hero was Brian May of Queen when I was ten or so, but the man who made me want to play was Mr Francis Vincent Zappa (not that I profess to be anything like him, unfortunately).
Took the standard route, i.e. teaching myself through playing with other guitarists and 'borrowing' (er.. Yeah right!!) their stuff. Had many failed ventures but never really got anything together with a band until Aerialdevice.
So, after 20 years of playing I finally got what I wanted.. Yes!! But I have to say that, apart from the great friendships I've forged with the rest of the band (past & present) due to this venture, the one thing that never ceases to amaze me is the amount of luck & good fortune we've had with this band.. The reason being, primarily, because of our friends and family helping us out since day one.
To all of whom I must say a MASSIVE thank you.
To all the troops who support us at every gig (y'all know who you are!). And to our friends, who've ALL helped us to where are at this point. Long may it continue..
Let's see what this year brings, huh?? See you at the next gig!!
Be cool.. Nigel!
